On Wednesday May 24th, we welcomed over 200 participants, school staff, volunteers and partnering organizations to our Bike Rodeo & Safety Day! Various safety topics were discussed and the student and presenter excitement was contagious!
The day would not have been possible without our financial sponsors: Nutrien, Sask Lotteries, SaskWater and SGI. Canadian Tire and the Acquired Brain Injury Education & Prevention Team donated helmets and the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute, Humboldt Co-op and attending organizations donated items and literature for the kids to take home. Thank you so much to all of our partners for their dedication to injury prevention in our commmunity!
Canadian Tire Humboldt and Universal Sports lent us bikes for the participants to use, without these extra bikes, many kids would not have been able to participate so we are very grateful for their generosity!
A huge thank you to Humboldt Protective Services for the help with drawing out the courses, inspecting bike safeties and promoting fire safety, Humboldt & District Ambulance – EMS for running the mock intersection obstacle course, Humboldt RCMP for the police escort for the students and conducting obstacle courses, Canadian National Railway Company for promoting rail safety, Humboldt Aquatic Centre for promoting water and boat safety, and the Acquired Brain Injury Education & Prevention Team for fitting helmets and discussing the importance of a helmet to the students. Lastly thank you to Community Leisure Services – City of Humboldt for allowing us to take over the curling rink and for all the assistance with making the event a success!
